Permanent Protection for Digital Data
Secure data storage requires long-term and reliable safeguarding of data when data has to be stored for a certain period of time. Depending on the legal requirements of a given country important tax-related data from the POS, the branches and the head office need to be backed-up. In Germany, within the framework of "principles of data access and verifiability of digital documents" have to be back-up for at least 10 years. In case of and at the time of a fiscal audit the data needs to be made available on a current media such as USB-stick, CF-card, CD or DVD, and hence accessible to the fiscal authorities.

smartSTORAGE is a network-compatible, destruction resistant storage unit for the storage and collection of data subject to tax over a period of 10 year and longer. Included in the scope of delivery is a control and regulation software which is being installed onto an already existing back-office PC. This software ensure the data communication from an to the smartSTORAGE unit.
In case of an audit the provision of data will be stored on an appropriate media in order to enable the tax inspector to import and evaluate the data in the IDEA software (which is an auditing software of Audicon mostly used by the fiscal authorities in Germany).
